Job Summary:
The Product Owner will work with product management and engineering teams to deliver products on time. He/she will track the velocity and delivery of engineering projects. He/She will develop product requirement documents and use cases for new product features and functions. The selected candidate will ensure end user feedback is sought after and accurately reflected in prioritization of product features and functions. He/She will work with engineering to decompose business stories into system level stories and/or designs. He/She will manage development iterations, cross project tasks, and related dependencies. Additionally, the selected candidate will prioritize and allocate backlog to each delivery. The Product Owner will drive engineering iteration objectives and provide just-in-time decisions to system level questions and defect triage. The Product Owner will also work with the Testing Coordinator and drive acceptance testing. He/She will become an expert on products being managed and how they compare to other offerings in the marketplace.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):

  • Manage product backlog
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to determine product features and priorities
  • Interface with technology team to plan sprint backlog items and answer any outstanding questions
  • Create user interface screen mockups

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with business stakeholders and extract product requirements
  • Proficient at developing use cases/user stories using industry standard practices/tools
  • Excellent ability to create interaction and visual design concepts
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of current technology trends
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and pay close attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills requiring working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 or more years experience with Product Planning: use case development, technical and usability requirements, product documentation, requirements research
  • Experience managing a modern software application
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, prioritizing and understanding business value associated with software product feature

Miscellaneous:
Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment
