Job Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of data planning, analysis, architecture, design, modeling, system implementation, and validation. Provides data architecture competency in support of internal engineering organizations. Facilitate the resolution of database performance problems.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):

  • Perform data analysis and modeling
  • Develop and analyze requirements data storage
  • Perform database administration, operations, and maintenance activities
  • Perform tuning on the data model, SQL statements, software configuration, and hardware configuration
  • Maintain a high performance, high transaction environment
  • Provide data architecture competency to engineering teams
  • Support Systems Life-Cycle Development (SDLC) activities including architecture definition, design, test, and operational deployment
  • Review system design documentation for adherence to established requirements, organization standards and engineering principles, and related specifications
  • Coordinate and resolve database problems with relevant technical staff
  • Manage day-to-day operation of the various RDBMS
  • Liaison between engineering teams, customers, and upper management

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities Required:

  • Operational experience with MS SQL Server 2005/2008 Standard and Enterprise
  • Experience with MS SQL High-Availability implementations
  • Operational experience with mySQL 5.x and replication
  • Experience in high transaction RDBMS environments
  • Data Architecture and data modeling experience
  • Data warehouse and related OLAP skills Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills requiring working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of work experience as a database administrator
  • 3 years of experience in tuning SQL and database objects
  • 3 years of experience in database analysis, design, modeling, and implementation
  • 3 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of high transaction RDBMS systems
  • 3 years of experience with enterprise data warehouse tools and methodologies

Miscellaneous:
Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.
