General Statement of Duties:
The Performance Test Engineer is primarily responsible for assisting in preparing test plans, writing test cases, writing scripts for automated testing, scripts /unit test for functional testing. Responsibilities also include preparing and executing test cases for standard software products and customer solutions. Some development of small testing applications and extending standard performance testing frameworks are required.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):

  • Performs systems integration level testing of systems, software and custom solutions, verifying conformance to established requirements. Diagnoses and resolves causes of failures.
  • Provide technical leadership to a geographically dispersed team of test tool developers and performance testing efforts
  • Develop and execute formal test procedures. This will involve creating and executing test specifications from design requirements, analyzing and reporting test results and reporting on defect resolution.
  • Assist in preparing test plans and prepare detailed test cases.
  • Write and execute scripts, automated testing tools, test clients.
  • Write and execute scripts for automated testing of Windows and Linux applications.
  • Test all new products releases / builds and test biometric software before shipping to customer.
  • Log, track and verify resolution of software defects. Document the results of the tests using tools such as Microsoft Office, Mantis, others.
  • Install the products and verify User Guides and Installation documents.
  • Test all customer implementations including fresh installations and migrations by replicating their environment.
  • Responsibilities include interacting with software development, reporting results to management, and help in writing functional specifications.
  • Execute and report upon Biometric Performance, Software Throughput/Latency across platforms and required systems layouts/configurations.

  • Knowledge of testing processes, methodologies and understanding of all phases of the software development life cycle.

  • Self-Starter, customer service oriented and ability to communicate with business partners

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 4-6 years of experience in software Quality Assurance.
  • Hands-on experience with the following:
    • Programming languages Bash, Windows Command Shell, Ant, Java, and C#
    • Programming languages Perl, Ruby, Python, Scala, PHP, JSP, ASP and HTML
  • Experience with NUnit and JUnit
  • Experience in working with UNIX platform
  • Experience working with Tomcat, ActiveMQ, and JBoss
  • Experience in writing test scripts for automated testing
  • Installation and working with H2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other databases
  • Installation and working with NoSQL databases such as Hadoop, Cassandra, etc
  • Experience with performance analysis and testing of complex software systems
