L-1 Identity Solutions offers an array of documetric database options that allow motor vehicle and government agencies to scan and automatically authenticate passports, green cards, driver’s licenses and other documents that people use as proof of identity.
L-1 defines the term “documetrics” as the physical attributes and unique characteristics of an identity document. These attributes can be used to identify a document and verify its authenticity in much the same way biometrics are used to perform identity verification with people.
L-1’s documetrics databases define the security features present in each type of document and the most reliable techniques for authenticating those features, as well as test documents using sophisticated image processing techniques and other complementary technologies.
Collectively, these optional documetrics databases form the back-end engine by which our authentication solutions are run and provide an additional resource to help combat identity fraud and theft. They are:

Documetrics databases enhance the B5000 solution for more advanced security testing of ID documents. Advanced database tests can include:
- For North American licenses and ID cards magnetic stripe and bar-coded data is extracted and analyzed for proper formatting and
consistency. - Automatic age calculation, legal age testing, and expiration testing.
- Checks for the presence of one or more patterns, seals, or logos on the visible, IR, and UV images that should be present in specific areas of a document and much more.
